Another sober Friday night

I was actually home sick from work today with a sore throat. But I was able to rest and drink a lot of water, and I am so grateful I don't drink anymore! I remember when I used to think I had to drink whiskey whenever I got sick to "kill the germs." My crazy thought processes while I was drinking made no sense to others, I am sure. I thought alcohol was "medicine" (obviously not for me). So I would be sick with a cold or sore throat or whatever, and "drink my way thru it" and end up chain smoking probably making matters worse.

Now that I haven't drank, I also haven't smoked while being sick, and it feels good to actually take care of myself and make good decisions! Rest, water, Gatorade, and cold medicine that doesn't mix with alcohol anyway. I have no desire to drink, and I think and hope the cravings are going away for good! I don't drink anymore, no matter what!

Take care of yourself!
I find hot liquids sooth the sore throat.
May I suggest some Chicken Soup (Grandma's Cure all)

the cravings will ease but it takes time so you have to tough it out. congrats on another friday. I made one more myself. I pulled a 12 hour shift and it was stressful but it kept my mind off of things and I'm going in for another 12 hours myself.
