I like unsweetened, fruit flavored seltzer water. It's cheap here in the US, and has lots of fuzz.

Hi Chilledice,

I know what you mean about craving that "bite" from a beverage. My alcohol of choice was dry white wine, so to battle cravings, a sweet soft drink sometimes just doesn't do it. My go-to now is cold seltzer with a bit of tart juice added, the less sweet the better.

It might sound odd, but salt and vinegar potato chips help me too.
Then a bit of chocolate and I'm set.

I tell myself that if I can be satisfied with that combination, of seltzer, vinegar chips and chocolate, to replace those substances that were in the wine... then I'm consuming the things that I enjoyed in the wine (the sugar (without realizing it), the sharp, bitter taste, the chilled "bite" of something fizzy), with none of the bad (e.g. the alcohol).

Sometimes I'll even pop a vitamin to emphasize the point, of consuming only things that are actively GOOD for me. Might sound bizarre, but it's really helped.

Hope you are hanging in there!

If you like a bit of a bitter tinge, a glass of really good tonic (that you can easily find in the UK, unlike here, where most tonic is crap) with some lime is great!

Also, I don't know if you have Q ginger beer, but it's fantastic! Great bite to it.

Hey, Chilledice. I can't believe I'm an American suggesting that you try this wonderful British brand of botanical brews. Ha! Fentimans has gorgeous stuff!

I love Topo Chico Mexican fizzy mineral water. It has the most bubbles of any I've had. Had some with a veggie burrito yesterday and it was perfect.
