I'd be drinking right about now

If my old routine was kept, I'd have started drinking roughly about now. Go to the shops at half 10, get back by 11, leave them in the freezer to get cold, so yep, I'd probably be knocking back my second beer of the night.

This was a part I was worried about. Not just knowing that I wouldn't drink tonight but knowing I wasn't going to drink any night with those cravings.

But I feel fine. I mainly want a cigarette more than anything (these things come in pairs) but even that's not too painful an urge.

My plan tonight is to get some work done, tidy and have some pasta and tomato sauce. Maybe if I can't sleep I'll walk to the store and get myself some sweets.

Diet wise I'm giving myself a week before cutting back, I'm already losing about 1000 calories a day from drinking so I don't want to give up everything all at once. Better to do it in steps.

So yeah, long night ahead, but right now I feel good. Tonight I will not drink, that I'm sure of.

Great job! Your username makes me want to write "You stayed sober again, and again... and never touched alcohol again!"

Good job AndAgain, there's a nice pic n mix stall eyeing me up today so I think I'll treat myself to a bag of sweets too.

Good job, AndAgain! Don't worry about the diet right now-you're not having all the extra useless calories. Eat something good, healthy and comforting. And do have some sweets! When I quit I absolutely craved them.

When I look back at my drinking life, I'm always amazed that I could drink all day and night and not do anything else. Now that I'm sober, I have no time for drinking, I'm too busy doing the things I love.
