"Drugs make you feel like a new man.

The only problem is, the new man wants some too."

I think this is the inherent problem with "controlled" drinking.

Once you've had that one or two drinks, you are no longer the "you" that made the promise to stop at that point.

Col,

I totally agree.

For me in the end I could not control it. If I had shot of vodka, I would end up drinking half the bottle in a couple of hours.

I would be wasted, pass out, and have to wake up to go to work the next day.

Waking up at 2 am to work is hard....waking up at 2am hungover was a living hell.

So glad I am free for ever.

I hate booze.

Thanks.

I agree 100%, and very well put.

It's also why I look askance at "tapering" as a method to quit drinking. Seems like if you could control your drinking well enough to do a taper, then you could control it on a regular basis too

Yup. If you have to control your drinking, it's probably because you can't.

Maybe if I just try really hard to see better, I won't need glasses.

Another great saying:

The man takes a drink
The drink takes a drink
The drink takes the man
