New to the forum
Hello all, first time in ANY forum of any kind. I am here to find some people that might want to share ideas and stories about alcohol recovery. I have been sober for 10 months, was primarily a weekend drinker and after my 4th DWI I was court ordered to a sobriety court. Everything has been a Godsend, I am the happiest I have been in a long time and I am seeing the benefits of being sober. I consider myself to be lucky, was difficult and different not drinking during the weekend like I used to but I have family and friend support and aside from the continued court ordered program I have a very happy, sober, normal life. I am almost done with the sobriety court program (done the end of September after a 15 month program), and I welcome anyone who would like to chat!
Welcome USMC, it's great to hear a story of someone taking on a court ordered program and thriving.
I've been sober for over 5 years and although sometimes I might want a glass of wine, my memory of where it leads stops me. I am so happy I don't have my drinking to worry about any more. I'm sure my body is saying thank you as well.

Hello, there, and a big WELCOME to you! You sound very positive - I love to hear that. You will find so much support here that it can overwhelm you at times there is that much love! Take it all in.
Hi USMC and welcome to one AWESOME
recovery community of recovering folks
all looking for support, understanding,
suggestions, guidance, fellowship etc.
from one another.
I too was sent to a court ordered program
of recovery 26 yrs ago listening, learning,
absorbing as well as applying what was
taught to me and passed on by many
traveling along the same road of recovery
as I.
Today I continue on my journey in life
and recovery with purpose and meaning
never forgetting what got me here in
the first place.
No regrets, just rewards and blessings
for remaining sober and passing on my
own ESH to others still suffering with
addiction.
A gift that keeps on giving.

Welcome to SR. 10 months is awesome. I'm sure you will find support and fellowship here. You could check out the Daily Recovery threads and the Class of September (?) 2016 - is that 10 months ago? You'll find those at the same stage of recovery as you.
Good to meet you, USMC. Congrats on your 10 sober months. You have a great attitude & sound very determined. Sharing thoughts here will give you further encouragement and strength. Welcome!
Welcome Leather neck!
Congratulations on all that time! Can't wait until I can say the same.

Thanks for catching that in my user name, I was active fury from 1990 to 1994. Yeah, this is a great place to visit, good posts to read and good to know we are not alone with this great sobriety thing.

Thanks brother, there is some great reading and posts here. I started a journal several months ago when I didn't have too many people to talk to and then sobriety found me an old high school friend. She isn't a drinker and knows my story, major support. We connected and have been dating for 3 months now. This is a great alternative and supplement to journaling since this is interactive. There is so much to do being sober and there is no anxiety when I have down time, not thinking about when I can start drinking.
Welcome, USMC! 10 months is awesome and SR is a great place to come for advice, support and good ideas. Sobriety has made me sane and happy and has given me my life back. I wish you continued success in your sober journey and thank you very much for your service.
