Off and Eventually Back On the Wagon Again

Some of you might remember me. I was a regular poster a few months ago. This site gave me the extra support I needed to stay sober for 3 months straight a few months ago. Then an old "friend" of mine came to visit for a few days and, of course, he wanted to have a few drinks and party. I said fine, I could handle it, it had been 3 months. Started drinking again after my friend left. Even on weeknights. And I have a job. Got crazy (verbally) one night and then my wife left with my son. Had a accident and messed up my hand and had to take a month off work. Definitely hit rock bottom - for the last time. Luckily, my wife and I are working things out. I've been over 3 weeks sober and don't plan on drinking anymore - period. As much as I wish it were true, I can't control my drinking. And I love my wife and son more than anything. So I told her I would give it up. Going to start posting again. Missed y'all.

Welcome back!! I had many Day Ones as well, and this site helped me get sober. Why don't you join us on the 24 hour thread, it's a great place to check in each day, and commit to remaining sober for the next 24 hours. You should also join the Class of July 2017.

I found that really focusing on recovery, rather than just not drinking was very helpful. I made my recovery about getting healthy physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I know it sounds a little cheesy, but it made a difference.

I am pasting Dee's link about recovery plans. Take a look and see what you think will work for you.

Glad you are back!
