Not drinking on one of the biggest party days of the year for me..
Instead of drinking my way to blackout city today, I'm going to focus in on some good conversations with friends, the warmth of the sun on my skin, and copious amounts of delicious BBQ grub.
My BF and I are also celebrating our eighth anniversary together. I'm beyond happy that I get to share this day surrounded by my very best of friends and a man who loves me unconditionally.
I've got so much in this life to be thankful for. Booze just doesn't have a place in my life anymore.
With that said - I am feeling a pang of sadness that I will miss out on the beer pong festivities. It was always a favorite of mine, but where does that really get me? It's a game that promotes binge drinking. How can anyone *feel* good after downing two beers in such a short amount of time? I know I never did. I felt bloated and sloth-like afterwards.
No.. today is going to be a great day. And after all is said and done and I lay my head to rest without spinning, crying, vomiting, or messing myself in the middle of the night.. I will wake up tomorrow morning with a clear head ready to tackle the Wednesday workday.
Happy Independence Day all...
