61 days and came close to drinking

I'm an animal lover. My life is stressful with my 56 year old husband who has early onset Alzheimer's. With the stress of quitting the booze and my husband's disease, the one thing I can count on is the unconditional love of my pets. They have gotten me through some very dark times. Yesterday we took our very healthy and happy young kitty to the vet for a regular check up only to end up at the emergency vet with a diagnosis of cancer of the spleen. I cried all day and into this morning. He is having surgery this morning to remove his spleen but they aren't sure yet if his liver has cancer too until they operate. I wanted a drink so badly to ease my pain. I talked myself out of it. How would me drinking help this situation at all? It would make things worse. Praying for my beloved kitty Jake this morning and praying I stay sober!

Wow, thoughts and prayers go out to you and your kitten.

Pets are part of the family, they touch our hearts so.

Listen to your reasoning, drinking will not help. It will make you less capable to be the best you that you need to be, for your family, for your kitten.

Be the best you, you know you can!

That is a lot to be dealing with, my dear one. Please take things slow and take care of yourself.

Goodness, you have such a lot to deal with. I really hope there is a good outcome for your kitty. So well done on your continued sobriety, you are right, it is the only way to plough through. Thinking of you.

Glad you realized a drink is not the answer. Thoughts are with you and your family, pets and all. Stick close, post often!

Sending prayers for you and Jake. Drinking won't make anything better, but will only make things worse. I'm glad you stayed sober.

Thoughts are with Jake!!

Drinking won't solve anything, Jake needs you to be there, don't let alcohol take away those moments you have with him.
