6 months sober, first real test
My sober date is November 25, 2016. I can honestly say that staying sober has been amazingly easy for me with only a couple of instances when I automatically went to thinking of having a drink; with the thought quickly banished. Until this week....
We are at our the beach on our annual family vacation home. In the home are my husband and me, our three grown children with their significant others, and our 8 year old grandson. My husband became a non drinker soon after I did. All six of the other adults in our house have enjoyed wine, beer, pina coladas, and margaritas this week. It has been a bit hard to not have a pina colada along with them sitting by the pool - Instead, I am enjoying my sparkling water and iced coffee.
Anyway, I am staying strong and using the "play it forward" to help me.
Peace and support to you all!

My husband and I will be taking a vacation this summer and I worry about exactly what you speak of. Then I remember how every vacation we've been on has been ruined by drinking. I'll take a sober vacay over the rest of our vacations any day!
Congrats on 6 months! Enjoy the rest of your vacay!

Well done on 6 months.
With the summer holidays approaching, I think there are going to be more of us facing what you've just faced. If we all handle it as well, we've got nothing to worry about

Congratulations Jillwink,
You are an inspiration. I haven't had a sober vacation since I was 16, but I am going to soon. I have two weeks on a lake coming up in August to prepare for. Pack your bathing suits my new SR friends...I'll be taking you all with me!

Congratulations. I'll take a good ice coffee over booze any day. There are some great tasting ones out there and none of the disasters that come after drinking cocktails. Win-Win for me.
Of course it helps that Starbucks gives my service dog a Puppichino on the way out lol
