Day 168
It was December 14, 2016 when I had my last drink. Still remember it. Two shots of bourbon and two beers just so I could get to sleep (a week earlier that was breakfast). The next three days were horrible. Withdrawal symptoms- YUP_ I had them all, in spades. First two weeks weren't any picnic period. Third week I slept soundly and started thinking clearly. Fourth week I started feeling like myself. From there everyday got better and easier.
Since then I've been to my first totally clean concert, my first baseball game without a beer, and I've played designated driver on many a night out. I don't begrudge those around me who can enjoy a drink responsibly. The way I look at it I did this to myself through many years of habitual overindulgence until my body needed it like oxygen.
I found SR about 3 months in and it was a relief to find others that clearly understood that early hell. If you're new here, welcome and if you one of the seasoned vets, thank you for the early support.
