Beginning of day 2

I actually got up and went to the gym. I did about 25 minutes and a little over a mile on the treadmill. It felt good to do something healthy that I've wanted to do for a while.

My goal right now is to stay sober, get in better shape physically and mentally and most importantly develop a plan on what to do when a strong desire to drink pops up.

I must admit I'm feeling a bit of anxiety this morning. Trying to push through without the help of Ativan. If it gets too bad I will take 1/2 of one. I don't want to use it as a crutch. I need to deal with feelings head on. The anxiety is caused by my lack of motivation the last couple of months. Work is a little behind but I know I can get it caught up if I focus and work hard.

Today will be another successful sober day.

Thank you all for your support.

Day 2 here as well

That's great about the gym, I was up at 6am- something that I can never achieve after drinking the night before, walked the dog and got ready for work.
Only got 4+a half hours sleep but surprisingly not as bad as I would be. Hopefully I'll get more during the week

Good job on day 2. For me fitness activities are as much a part of my "program" as anything if not one of the keys to staying sober. A good physical workout of most any kind improves not only the body, but the mind. It is my "medication" for anxiety and improved mental focus. Keep up the good work.

Way to go on day 1. I am starting on day 2 today as well.
I don't know what the future holds for me but it has to be better than being drunk all the time.

I agree. Being drunk, sitting at home alone with no one to talk to gets old. That makes me drink more and just get depressed. Time for change. It's not going to be easy but it's doable.

It's definitely doable Sinderos! Stay with the exercise routine, it will help you immensely! Once you move past the withdrawal period, your AV will start showing up...convincing you that you can have "just one"...don't listen!!!

Best of luck to you in your recovery!

Push yourself beyond your comfort zones, it will pay off in the long term. Good job on day 2. One day at a time.

You 100% can do it!! Working out helps me as well. It feels so good to be productive! Making a plan and sticking to it was something I wasn't doing before, and i always ended up right back where I started; losing days, blacking out, swearing it was the last time. I needed a solid plan. I think we all do :-)
