ups and downs of the last 2 months

during the last 2 months i have
quit for 10days -then binged for 6 days
quit for 28 days then binged for 3 days ,
quit for 4 days then drank normally for 1 evening , which to me was shared a bottle of wine over dinner and 2 beers
currently 4 days sober

they say if you manage to quit for 30days you look at your drinking patterns in a different light .this certainly has happened to me ,
when i started drinking again after 28days i found my drinking buddies to be talking the same BS as before , it was like groundhog day
needless to say they have forgotten me already ,

i have wasted alot of time ,energy and money on these people whereas my focus now is on my marriage and family , life is short if you spend it in the bar ,, there is so much to do when you leave that environment.
this forum for opened my eyes

A lot of things change when we quit. Like, our whole entire life.
Its good to see that you can abstain for periods of time. The more you do this and want it, the easier it will get. The money you will save! The hours spent in bars are now filled with more productive hobbies. Your health improves. Life improves. Keep moving forward.

Thanks for sharing.

What is your plan for making sobriety stick this time? Lots of good ideas for programs around here- mine is AA (I am now just past 15 mo sober at 457 days) and others on SR have success with AVRT, SR alone, and more.

Hope to see you stay with us.

Hope you're able to make it this time. What's important is that you came back and you're ready to try again. As August mentioned, having a plan makes all the difference.

Glad you're back!

I have gone through something very similar. Used to drink every day, then started trying to quit and found myself binge-drinking every week or three. Really an awful new pattern of drinking, having these massive benders every few weeks and forgetting what I did, finding stupid crap I posted on social media the next day, hung over for days at a time.

Like you said, life is short and focusing on all the good things we have means not drinking ... I'm on day two, really committed to it being the last quit.

It's good you've got some self awareness now Jack.

How are you going to use that to stay sober for good - what's your plan?

Hi Dee
I think the self awareness has come for having a clear mind and seeing things for what they are

slowly starting to formulate a sobriety plan in my mind
