Sober since May 18th
Been sober since Thursday. Basically just a beer drinker, however, it got progressively worse over a twenty year period. The last three years in particle. Drank cause of lack of money, (which only cost more money...yea it's ironic) and being unfairly screwed out of jobs in my opinion. Obviously I know none of this was helped with drinking just made it worse. By then though it was such an ingrained habit. Starting getting sick when I drank so quit. Have a horrible sinus infection and blocked right ear now, fatigue, achy, etc. Little bit of lethargy when it comes to eating. I don't feel that bad just can't sleep, little achy, and a little spaced out.
Welcome to the family. At only five days sober, you're barely out of physical withdrawal, so your aches could be related to that. If you stay sober and aren't feeling better in a week, I'd suggest seeing your doctor.
Welcome to a great place. DB78.
I was achy & spacy for a couple of weeks when I quit. We're bound to experience all sorts of feelings & emotions as we begin to heal. I'm glad you found us - it helps to talk things over with those who understand.

I've been trying to drink a lot of water and orange juice. Moderate exercise seems to help some but I sleep so much (choppy sleep) or am fatigued so it is difficult. Any other tips in early sobriety would be much appreciated. Have a nice night.

Hello DB, I was a big beer drinker too. I found reading and posting on SR was crucial the first few months. Honestly it still is.😀
I only drank in the evenings so every night I would read here. I found great hope in the stories of recover forumn.
Another thing that helped me was I really paid attention to the positive changes no matter how small. Your AV wants you to be miserable. So keeping a positive attitude is important. Jump in here any time you feel a little weak, before you drink, we got your back.
