6 months sober today and what a journey....
So today I celebrate 6 months sober and I also celebrate my daughters 7th birthday, when I got sober I didn't realise my 6 month sobriety date would fall on her birthday but I know it's fate as she was my fuel to finnally quitting.
This journey that I started 6 months ago whilst going through an extremely messy break up has taught me more about myself than the last 34 years combined.
I have had to dig deep and look in places that I hoped I would never have to revisit.
I have had to get to know myself again and accept it all, including my flaws. I have had to cry rivers in both happiness and sadness. I have had to walk my dogs in the pouring rain to stop my mind racing.
I have had to believe in what you good people told me that I could get sober and it would get better. I have had to cling on for dear life and get on my knees and pry to god for another sober day. I have had to Meditate and practice yoga daily to feel more connected to the present moment.
I have had to change my diet and honour my body with nourishing and soul enriching foods. I have had to listen to the voice that was almost drowned out with alcohol that whispered there is another way. I have had to seek professional help to overcome my anxiety and face it head on. I have had to leave no stone uncovered in my quest to heal and grow.
Iam looking forward to seeing what the next 6 months bring, Iam full of hope for the future and that is a gift in itself...

Awesome post Hercules, huge congratulations on 6 months and happy birthday to your daughter. I thought I was the only person who walked her dog in the pouring rain to stop my mind racing! It totally works tho doesn't it? Thanks for posting

Awesome and congrats! I hit 6months recently myself and ALL aspects of my life are getting better. Well...except I have to buy a new truck this weekend because drinking me kinda trashed my last one but, if I was still drinking/gambling I probably wouldn't have the money for it. 
Keep going, it gets better.
