Headaches, sleepy- PAWS?

For the past 48 hours, I 've been having bad headaches. I can probably count how many I've had in the past 10 years- they are so rare.

Plus, I've been so sleepy--like sleep all night, get up for a few hours then sleep, all day, get up for a few hours, then sleep all night again. For the same 2-3 days.

We just got back from a tiring road trip, and I could also be getting sick.
Any thoughts?

Sober since Apr 25.

Hi. I'm approaching 3 months and I've had headaches on and off the whole time.... nothing seems to get rid of them although I haven't had one for several weeks now. I also sleep more than I ever have in my life. I'm taking it as a sign that I'm healing from all the years of self abuse. Keep at it, it will level off.

Headaches can have a myriad of causes, both physical and mental. If they are severe and out of the ordinary seeing a doctor wouldn't be out of the question.

"PAWS" is not really a diagnosable condition - it's really just a collection of a wide variety of symptoms that those in recovery experience at times. The term was mainly coined by the recovery community to help explain why those in recovery sometimes get these symptoms while others do not...but there is no cure for "PAWS" in that sense. You can explore treating the core causes of some of the symptoms though...for example, anxiety and depression are common in recovery - and you can treat both of those conditions. Same thing for headaches...they might be common during "PAWS" but you don't seek a cure for PAWS...you seek the source of the headaches and possible treatment.

I get headaches when I sleep too much, it's from the lack of fluid intake.
Drink water throughout the day and see if that makes a difference.

As for not having energy, being inactive makes you tired. Stay up during the day, move around.

Ditto! ...

My headaches come and go. It's a low level, dull headache. Like Zen mentioned, nothing seems to touch it. However, I have found that getting outside and working-out regularly helps.

If it is any comfort, I have been on these threads fo almost two and a half years and both the headaches and the sleepiness are reasonably common and my impression is that the headaches do not last for long with the sleepiness/tiredness lasting a bit longer.

Obviously if the headaches were to last then you should visit the doctor but I doubt they will.
