Freedom...
My court thing should be going on now or over already(my lawyer went for me).. Paid my fines, did my forced AA meetings(still attend) and all other classes involved with a DUI. It's like a weight has been lifted. Next week I'll go get my DL back and start shopping for a new truck. What I've lost through this is some sanity,a company,a few relationships business and personal. Have I learned my lesson? I hope so. I know that drinking does NOTHING positive for me. I'm coming up on 6 months without a drop now. The longest in over 15 years. I can no longer consume booze and that's more than ok! My ex and I started seeing each other again but, she's still a 'bar fly' so, I had to end that again and that's ok. My life goes on... Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for your support and never giving up on me.
For the newcomers: Life IS better sober in all aspects. You're able to handle loss, troubles, positives, everything better with a clear mind and soul(no morning regrets). I can now say that I give my all and if I fail..that's ok. Get up and continue living to the best of my ability. Hang in there,my friends.

RELAPSES OCCUR FREQUENTLY- when newly sobered up people feel happy/confident and let their guard down. They think they can control stuff. Make sure you keep up regular support in real life. Should not be too hard if you are getting your own transport. AA or SMART, counsellor/psychologist/doc- whatever it takes.
I'm glad you've gotten through the stuff involved with your DUI. Congratulations on 6 months of sobriety. It sounds like you're now rebuilding your life. You said you 'hope' you've learned your lesson. I really hope so, too. It was tough with one DUI, I would hate to think of you having to deal with a second one. You can choose to not allow that to happen. I hope you continue to read and post, and be proud of how far you've come.

Thanks, guys. I'll talk to my lawyer Mon morning and go from there. I will also be on here daily,as it's my main tool outside of meetings. I actually feel alive again. Reborn if you will.. I know what my life and direction are now without the haze of booze.
