Shitzupuppy's urge jar AKA -- SUJAR
Shitzupuppy's urge jar AKA -- SUJAR
I think this is a new idea. I came up with it last night. I'm new to the recovery thing, so it may already be common knowledge.
Anyway, what I'm going to do is get a jar and some pieces of paper. I'm going to write down all the good parts of being sober- for example the happiness of getting the monkey of my back, the optimism, being closer to my spouse, waking up happy, not waking up hungover, keeping promises to myself and others, weight loss, saving money, saving my health, better relationships with family and friends, not embarrassing myself, rememering conversations, KNOWING I CANNOT MODERATE (I might write that one several times) etc. then I'll put them in the jar.
When I feel the AV or urge or complacency coming back, I'll pull some of them out to keep me motivated and on track. And remind me, how I feel on the good days.

Great idea. Might I suggest that you also be prepared to continue to add to your sujar as you start and continue your journey. There are a lot of little tiny things that you will or already are noticing that you will recognize as "wow, that wouldn't have happened if I was drinking," that you can add to your jar. Good luck!
