trying to quit

So for the past six or so years I have been drinking about five nights a week, a bottle to a bottle and a half of wine! I had my bloods done around this time last year as I had a pain in my right rib area. My blood liver came back fine, but I have continued drinking blaming the stress of my ill stepdad, and then his death in December - but tbh I'm sick and tired of this - I don't feel I'm physically addicted but I am certainly mentally addicted, I have hid it well, tomoro will be day one - I'm scared of not being able to quit but I really need to do this I'm scared of dying early from this bloody disease. Any help with tips on keeping off this poison would be gratefully revieved

There's a great thread on the importance of a plan for recovery.

I'll link it in a moment.

You may also want to consider joining an SR Class where you can interact with other members who are at similar stages as you in their quest for sobriety:

Strong,

I use to say it like this...

I would rather think I was an alky and be wrong than think I was normal and be wrong.

Imo.....1 bottle of wine a night is too many units to consume. In the last year have you accidentally drank more than 1.5 bottles in a night?

I got sober for 8 months once, it was so easy I decided I could start and stop any time.

When I quit 2 years ago, it was hell on earth. I real life horror show.

Booze is poison. Normal drinkers seem to know this intrensicaly.

Folks that drink like me...maybe you.... missed the class on drinking too much. We crossed the line.

Thanks.
