Spot of good news for once
Spot of good news for once
I usually post about AH.. no good news there, unfortunately.
But yesterday I went to visit my brother, who started drinking and drugging at age 13 and has had a very rough-and-tumble life with no meaningful work (actually barely any work at all), one girlfriend who died of cancer in her 40s, and a history of bouncing around from flea bag motel to VA rehabs (thank GOD for the VA, without which my brother would have been dead). He's also bipolar.
Anyway, he's now been sober for 8 months--the longest stretch in his life-- (he's 59). He looks great. For years he had HepC and Stage 4 cirrhosis. The VA gave him Harvoni, and he's now free of the hepatitis and his cirrhosis has been reclassified as Stage 2.
He really looks at peace with himself, and I know this is a one-day-at-a-time deal, but I'm so proud of him and happy for him.
