Hi, new member
Hi all. New member newly off the booze. On my 18th day and doing ok. Found I am sleeping great but still tired early evening. Also developed a really sweet tooth which I never had before.
Realised I needed to do something when most of my days were taken up making sure I had supplies for the night and that there was no possibility I would run out. Been drinking for the last 30 years so really hope I can crack this. Hope to be of help to others if I can.

Welcome to SR surlyltuk! I too was a three decade plus drinker/abuser of alcohol. My days off got to the point where I started to drink while waiting for my morning coffee to brew. It finally dawned upon me that I might have an issue.
I went through a lot of sweets my first six months or so. I drank tons of rum and wine, so my body was used to sugar in those forms. I found ice cream and other sweets helped me ride those initial cravings. I actually put some weight on after quitting drinking, contrary to many.
Great job on 18 days!

Lots of people will be along with practical advice, but I just wanted to say top work on 18 days Paul! You are doing great. And to say Hi!
I've found using reading and posting at SR a great help during the first couple of months of sobriety. Just reading here every day has given me a sense of actually doing something about my recovery rather than just "not drinking" (which never used to work at all).
