Almost two years, then THIS.
Friends, I need some help. I have been drinking for 8 months after almost two years sober. I am so ashamed, and lost. I was so strong, and then I had a moment of weakness that has turned into this.
It's OK FWG...You know how to do this because you've done it before. Take a deep breath, drink some tea, have a hot bath...just relax and do what's right for your body and mind.
What's important is that you came here and posted and you're jumping right back at your recovery.
Big Hugs!

Trust me, I've relapsed more times than I'd like to count. It's incredible how one minute you're feeling fine...then the next...ugh!
Don't beat yourself up like I've done. Just let it be one slip and get right back at using all of your recovery tools.

Hi FWG. It sounds like you're back with more determination and resolve. I did the same thing - drank after 3 yrs sober, but I didn't get back on track for 7 yrs.! You can imagine all the damage I did in that length of time. I really scared myself. I now have over 9 yrs. sober - so I know you can do this.

What courage you have to share!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so sorry you are lost and ashamed. There's no cure for normal . It's true this disease and the AV is so cunning, baffling & powerful. Be kind to yourself - so proud of you for pouring out what you had. Making that decision is actually huge. Each step adds up. I drank after having 7 years of sobriety. The shame and denial kept me out for years. I'm 49 now and today am on Day 1 of no alcohol AGAIN - I didn't stop for a bottle of wine on the way home - freaking miracle! I'm with you! Don't give up!!!

I relapsed for a couple months after more than 2 years sober last spring. What helped me greatly was introducing new tools to support my recovery. First time I got sober mostly using SR, occasional meetings and later therapy. When I relapsed, I felt very ashamed and scared and I went to inpatient rehab, was on psych meds for a while, lots of recovery meetings (different kinds), more therapy and less online interaction. I have been sober since. I think that learning new skills and trying new methods often help. You have made a great step coming here
Welcome back, FormerWineGirl. It's nice to see you.
You can reclaim your sobriety and recovery.
What worked for you last time? Pull out those same tools and start again.
We are here for you.

Mistakes are part of life. It's what we do after the mistake that makes it a bigger mistake or not.
If you were doing some things right during those two years, get back to what works. If you were just "being strong" and white-knuckling it for two years, try a different approach.

Hey FWG... great to see you back.
I had some good sobriety lining up and then went back out at it for about a year and a half. It got pretty ugly, though thankfully I came back to sobriety before losing it all....
It was what I needed to finally convince myself that sobriety was the better way for me.
I hope this time you're convinced.
Because once you're convinced, the hardest part is already behind you.
