I went and bought a bottle.
Alcohol isn't the cure of anxiety , it just makes you more jittery and nervy in my experience.
Overwhelming anxiety won't kill you being an alcoholic and drinking will .
Make an appointment to see the Dr alcohol isn't the cure for anything .
best wishes, m

Alcohol causes anxiety and can cause depression too.
Don't self medicate, ask for help from your doctor.
You need to distract yourself.
Have a bath, a warm drink, get comfortable.
Alcohol is not the best way to manage anxiety

I started out with pretty bad anxiety, then each time i've relapsed over the years my anxiety has gotten worse and worse. If you think it's overwhelming now, it'll be even worse when you sober up after this drink.
I like to sit in a shower when I'm having a panic attack, the water pressure calms me down. Maybe try that. Or literally anything other than drinking. Google yoga or meditation for anxiety, go for a walk, scream into a pillow.

I poured out what was left. Thanks guys. Maybe I just need some good food. I'm so anxious because I have to half my smokes starting tomorrow. Have no money. The bottle was only$4. They are nearly a dollar a smoke now here. I seem to have no self control. You have taken away the urge to go buy more. Want my health back so badly.
Small steps that will end up in big changes. You poured the rest out which was a great decision. I'm on day 20 and today I'm just focusing on not drinking today. It gets overwhelming for me to think of next week, next year, forever. So I'm staying focused on today. You can too. Make a plan to keep yourself busy and stick with it today. Go to a meeting, take a walk, read through threads here on SR when you find yourself idle. Then do the same tomorrow.
Wanting your health back will never get it back.
Choosing it back, will.
You're going to keep this cycle up and it's going to get worse until you choose another way and act on that choice.
Are you ready to choose sobriety yet?

Use your recovery program to teach you
how to remain sober each day.
Then use your physician to help you
work thru medical issues. Meaning,
our physicians are here too help us
stay healthy in mind and body.
When we use them honestly with our
health issues then we can benefit from
them.
Get a good physical exam to make sure
everything inside you is working properly.
Talk about your addiction and recovery
and make sure they understand that staying
sober is top priority and is medicine for
anxiety or depression is not narcotic or
habit forming.
All of us deserve a good quality of life
and if we work with our physicians honestly
then they can help us achieve it.
There were many ways you could have
prevented yourself from riding to the
store to pick up poison. Which ones could
you have used?
From the time you got ur keys and turned
on the car and drove to the store, parked,
walked, entered, you could have stopped
yourself long before any of that happened
and there would be no remorse or guilt involved.
You can be successful and addiction free
just by reaching out for help, picking up
the phone, coming here to SR, or a nearby
recovery meeting, or many who can guide
you thru each day without driving to the
store to purchase poison.
Addiction is an illness of the mind body
and soul. It's time to rid urself of this sickness
with all the help available to you.

I recommend trying to put together an "anxiety toolbox". Instead of thinking up just one activity you should try to do when you're anxious, come up with 10. When I first started seeing my therapist to deal with my intense anxiety issues, this is the first thing she made me do. And what's great about it is that when you come up with so many, you have coping mechanisms for a wide variety of situations. Think up some stuff you can do RIGHT NOW that may not necessarily work long-term. And think of things you CAN do long-term. It can really help! A few things from my own toolbox, as an example:
- Get out of the house and exercise (short term relief)
- Practice meditation (might be short term relief, most likely long term, but primarily I don't try to use this one if I'm experiencing intense anxiety)
- Pick up the phone and talk to anyone. Or better yet, try to meet up with / spend time with someone (short term relief)
- Play an intense video game (you might not play video games at all and that's a good thing lol. Any activity that takes intense concentration will reduce your anxiety and stop your negative thoughts)

You have to make a different decision. It is imperative to your health.
Anything and everything can come up. Just dont drink.
it's good that you posted here.....take that up a notch and post here BEFORE you leave the house to go buy more booze. arrest the thought BEFORE it becomes action.
the anxiety you feel is DIRECTLY related to the alcohol you drink. if you will give yourself the gift of continuous days of sobriety, eventually that anxiety will subside as your body levels out.
you could also look up OTHER ways to DEAL with anxiety. breathing exercises, healthy self talk, exercise. now is the time to find other coping mechanisms. there is absolutely NO good reason to drink, ever.
