I can’t say that I ever tried to intentionally get sober before May 7, 2013, but there were times when I attempted to not drink for a week or two, or just have a few drinks when I went out. It obviously didn’t work. Some problem drinkers return to drinking several times, even after having an extended period of time living sober. (From the Fix)

Your right. I was sober from 1995 to 2002. Figured I had to be cured and drank again. I took me fourteen years to get sober again. Big mistake.

This makes alot of sense, I experienced alot of these everytime I tried to quit in the past. Coming down from my last binge, the mental strain and physical pain finally came to a head, and all of a sudden I was committed to not going back there again.
