How does one cope?

The title says it all. I've obviously learned to cope though alcohol and men.. one leading to another and becoming a person I NEVER was. The constant cycle of back and forth. My drinking has slowly detoritated in the past 2 years, it's no longer fun, it's no longer out with friends. It's now pure isolation due to my change in lifestyle. Yesterday was a complete and conscious effort not to drink and I white knucklesd it the whole day obsessing over it. In turn, I felt old habits come back, the anxiety which in turns fuels an old eating disorder so I just didn't eat. But the moral of the story is in the past week, yes I have binge drank and yes I had a complete and utter meltdown, but for some strange reason it was a break though. That I can't live my life in this utter sorrow and shame and guilt of hiding whatever the hell i'm trying not to BE! Thanks for listening 🙂

Head,

Wanting to quit is half the battle.

We are addicts for life. The crave only gets easier to deal w as the physical addiction changes to mental. The mental, while less painful, lurks forever.

It is tied to our emotions.

Booze is a toxin. Eventually, we progressively rot from the inside out.

Pretty gross. Pretty insane.

So, use your analytical mind to get through the moments, days, weeks, etc.

Change your lifestyle to a non.drinker. Drinking is a learned behavior.

Unlearn it.

Eat when you crave. Now is not the time to go on a diet.

Exercise. Get fresh air.

It gets better.

Thanks.

Cope by developing Awareness and Equanimity.

Develop Awareness and Equanimity by practicing 'awareness of the in and out breathing'.

Practice 'awareness of the in and out breathing' like this :

Anapana Sati Meditation on Breathing - Vipassana meditation : S N Goenka on youtube

It can seem very overwhelming when the booze has completely consumed your life, but you can come out of it.
Get a solid plan together, be it start going to AA, an addiction counselor, or other outlets. Most importantly, don't drink as it just will keep making things worse.
