I made it

I had my first sober social event tonight. I was dreading this the whole week. I faced a few akward moments with my boss wanting to pour me wine the whole evening. I got a soft drink from the bar and told my boss I didnt want wine as I was having vodka. He left me alone untill he wanted to order liquers as the evening drew to a close. I faked a severe case of heartburn and fled to my hotel room. This is not going to be easy, but it will be easier than waking up with regrets, self loathing and suicidal thoughts. One day at a time, One day at a time.

Way to go Misty! I'm on day 43 of sobriety myself but don't feel I am quite there yet. To be in that kind of social situation around alcohol that is.

This is wonderful, Misty!! I'm so glad you get to wake up this morning feeling proud, with a clear head and a clear conscience. I am enjoying that feeling myself and am with you in solidarity. Let's both keep coming back to SR

I'm glad you got through Misty

I had to get used to saying no and meaning it. The problem with an excuse like heartburn is you can only really use it once...

No is forever

Good for you, Misty!

I agree with Dee. And, I know you will get to the point where you know that you don't have to offer a reason or excuse with your 'No'. No is a complete sentence.

Congrats on your first sober event!! Very tough and makes for lots of awkward moments.... I remember before my first sober event that before I went I accepted the fact that there were going to be awkward moments and that was okay. It was just the way it was going to be.... They will get easier.

Nice job, Misty. The first sober social engagement is a big deal. I remember mine from a year ago. I was nervous, had a plan, the whole thing. It's a really big deal to get through it. I'm very happy for you.
