Hi I'm new to this site. Just joined up now. So basically I'm in my late 20s. Have been drinking vodka everyday for 4years. Why? Well it started off in the late stages of an abusive relationship. I suppose I felt it helped me. Then it took a hold over me and before I knew it I couldn't be without. I never drank in the day it was always night when my kids were in bed. I am 2 days sober. Finding it very difficult to sleep. I had blood tests done last week and one showed a problem with my liver. I need to get them repeated. It has scared me a lot. So now I just need to stick to it and stay off the drink.
Welcome, lola. Good for you for making that decision. Are you thinking about a recovery plan that will help and support you? AA? SMART? Read around the stickies posted at the top of the site's main menu. Lots of good info there.
Our bodies are pretty amazing and resilient. Hopefully, without the drink, your liver will heal.

Thank you so much for your reply . I'm still getting the hang of this site. Yes I'm going to look into aa meetings and see if there is any I can attend ASAP. Thank you I will look through the site the information looks fantastic. Anything to take my mind of the dreaded vodka
Hello and welcome. You'll find lots of support here.
I went through a vodka phase in my twenty year drinking career.
Bad stuff. Drank it right out of the plastic bottle, the cheap stuff. Warm. 9am.
I wasn't what you'd call a social drinker. It got worse.
My liver test is still off even after six years sober. So I wouldn't lose sleep over that. The important thing is you and your kids. And not drinking. As mentioned, some of find help in support groups like AA. I know it helped me.
Congratulations on two days, that's a great start. Good news is, you never have to drink again. Best to you.

Hi everyone I have only just come back on. Thank you so much for the warm welcomes it's so lovely to have people is can talk to about this. Today is my third day sober. Last night I could not sleep and I was awake until 6ish this morning. Did anyone else have this problem?
Yes, I had trouble sleeping for about three weeks. Some nights I'd sleep an hour or two and then I'd sleep 12 hours. It's very common to have problems with sleep in early days. It will even out.
Congrats on day taking your life back! Welcome to the site.

Thank you everyone. I survived another night sober. Onto day four now and felling great. I just need to keep strong because I keep thinking of vodka. I slept well last night but I had taken a Xanax that I have for anxiety before bed. I do not want to depend on anything to sleep I just want to make it through myself.

Congrats on making it to Day 4! I have noticed that the urges to drink go down as you stay sober. I am only on Day 2 myself and I have had to tell my AV to **** off a few times and it is only 10:20 AM here. Keep up the good fight!
