Hello
Hello
I found this site by doing internet searches on various symptoms of withdrawal when quitting drinking. All very good information here in the forums.
I'm a retired art teacher/artist. Female, divorced, age 66. My history with drinking is long. I've just realized how pervasive it has been my entire life, through working, parenting, marriage, dating after divorce. I've hidden the drinking for the most part, remaining "functional," but since retirement, I've become increasingly isolated and turning to drink early in the day and then throughout.
Now, 5 days of abstinence, and aside from the physical effects of night sweats and daily fatigue, I feel pretty good. I actually came here initially researching those symptoms.
Thank you for this website and forum.

Hi Barracuda. You can look at my posts. I refer to this a LOT. I have always been a drinker. Retirement offered even more time!!! I caught myself. I was increasing not only the amount that I drank...but the drinks were getting stiffer and stiffer! I scared myself sober. Not turning back. I bet there are a bunch of people that are finding this part of retirement out!
Welcome to SR, Barracuda7! Recovery really is a better way of life.
