Very nearly caved in at day 4
Very nearly caved in at day 4
I nearly had a bottle of wine tonight 😔
I was on a night shift last night and been thinking about a glass since I got up. Rang my husband on his way home from work and asked him to pick up a bottle. Reply........
What do you want that for!
I said fine I will get dressed and go myself, he said no you don't and lucky for me he then pulled on the drive
What was I thinking! And he doesn't realise the extent of my drinking habits.
Just going to bed with a hot chocolate. Am grateful I never drank.
Day 5 tomorrow

Whew! Close call Pinky. The timing of your DH pulling in, just as you were about to leave for the bottle of wine seems like divine intervention! He deserves a big hug!
I know how easy it is to slip the first few days of sobriety because it's easy to think, "It's only a few days in, I can quit tomorrow...what difference will it make?"
Congratulations!

I don't want to go to AA there's only an evening one near to me none during daytime hours and I work shifts so would be difficult anyway. I have looked at online meetings but it's not supported by my phone so that's no good unfortunately
I am going to plan my days daily
I have told my husband to not buy me any wine. He just can't understand why I can't just have a "drink" at the weekend. He will have a glass or 2 and put the cork back in!

Had I been and fetched it there would have been a big argument last night as he would have said "you had not better drink that" and I know my AV would be saying "drink me don't let him tell you what to do"
Instead we had a nice meal ☺
I didn't mention AA but it's a good programme
I'd recommend SMARTand Lifering as well but but if face to face meetings are out and online meetings are out too you'll have the same problem with them.
Maybe you can get something out of Rational Recovery - no meetings, just books?
worth a try - have a nose around in the Secular Connections forum.
I also think it's worth your while looking a the plan links:

Noone here is going to force you to do anything you don't want to do., but I think to initiate change we need to stretch ourselves a little.
I understand time is precious but we all essentially stole time to drink - if we want change, I think we really need to devote at least that same amount of time to not drinking.
You'll get out of your recovery what you put into it - thats a promise Pinky

Glad you made the right decision and the evening turned out to be a success. Way to go Pinky!
You didn't almost cave, you worked really hard to stay with your recovery! And be thankful for those difficult days, because you can lean on them as concrete, experience-based evidence, that you can handle a lot more than you ever thought possible while drinking. Great work!
