Ben Affleck

I saw this post today written by Ben Affleck, and it is a good reminder how alcoholism affects so many, and once again shows how getting help is the best thing you can do. For all of you just logging on for the first time, hang in there, you can do this. Do whatever it takes.

"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery."

If you are new, or returning, I'm glad you are here!!!!

Glad he is getting help. Robert Downy, Jr. was deep in the trenches, but he got help and both his life and his career turned around.

Asking for help is nothing to be ashamed of.

Absolutely, I think it is actually the bravest and strongest thing you can do.

Well said! Sometimes a burden is too heavy to bear alone, but no burden is too much when you find others to help shoulder the load.

That's great for him and his family. I hope he can turn it around.

We've got lots of "regular" folks here that are finding and sharing the gift of recovery. They'll never get the attention that a celebrity receives, but they are all just as important to me.
