Hello everyone, my name is Jessica I am 32 years old and I live in Northwest Arkansas. My sobriety date is 9/25/16. I am a drug addict/alcoholic and was one of the hopeless variety that the BB talks about. I have been using/drinking since I was 16 and I have gone to treatment multiple times since I was 16. I have been to jail multiple times as well. On 9/25/16 I went and turned myself into the local jail as I had 7 warrants out 6 were misdemeanor and 1 was a felony. I stayed in jail for 2 months and then went directly to treatment again. This time I was serious because I had lost everything including myself. I was told that if I was going to be sober I would have a good shot at it by getting out of treatment and going to meetings immediately and getting a sponsor. I got out of treatment and picked up the 200 pound phone and got to a meeting. Since then my life has been amazing and the promises have been coming to light in my life. For me AA was the only thing that has worked. I have many many things to work on that were left in wake from my years of addiction but now I have the tools to work on them. I have an amazing sponsor and an amazing support group. I am here because I want to continue working on my recovery (even at work lol) and also if I can ever be of help to anyone, that is the point of all this. Thank you everyone that is here, we are a special group with a bit of a mental twist but there is not another group of people in the world I would rather be around. Have a great day everyone!
Great to meet you, Jessica. Congrats on your sober time - you were brave to face up to everything. It must be such a relief to have that behind you. We cause ourselves so much misery & anxiety through our drinking. Never again.
