Loperamide/Imodium...seriously?!

I found this interesting article on loperamide addiction. I used to find Imodium around my house all the time...exes car, briefcase, medicine cabinet. I thought my ex just had irritable bowels but now I feel differently. Ugh so essentially he can pass all the drug tests in the world but still be getting high off possibly OTC medications. What a long road ahead. I was so naive about addiction. Anyone else experience this? How do I convince the courts he may be abusing OTC meds?

Wow. Had no idea...it does beg the question just who is doing "research" on enough OTC drugs to get around to risking a decade's constipation just to see if they could get a buzz from Immodium.

I was reading sugarangels thread a couple weeks ago over in Substance Abuse and one of the posters there was using Immodium to come off opiates - but he was taking like 20-30 of them at a time. Um. It doesn't sound "helpful" like Rail Dawg is saying in this thread...sounds like...I won't say.

Start at Rail Dawg's post #152 on page 8 (it goes on for a while, with huge amounts and then he stops posting)

I have heard of this before. That's the thing about addiction. They will always find something to be addicted to until they don't want to be addicted anymore, if that ever happens. That's why recovery only works if the addict truly truly wants it.

Interesting...he states that he barely had any withdrawals once he took the Imodium. I just can't believe all of this. I never would have suspected that you could get high off of a medication like that. My ex would take more of his cymbalta than prescribed and I was so taken back by that. I guess addicts try to abuse anything that can alter their mind.

I was going to offer the same info, about people using Imodium to counter addiction.
