Hi I am new to this group and still need to learn how to use it.
Been wanting to quit drinking but even though I dont feel good the morning after at night somehow I tend to forget it.
I realise that I am setting a bad example for my two teenagers and my husband is not happy with the situation either.
I have fallen into a habbit that I cannot break.
Even with my best intentions I find myself ending up before the wyne shelf unable to resist another bottle.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome Bokkie I think this site is just the place to help you stop drinking
Have you considered meetings or creating a plan of recovery to help ?
Stick around & give yourself a chance .. nice to meet you & welcome to Sober Recovery

For me best of intentions were usually just that. Real change for me needed a sobriety plan, informed decisions on how to change my behaviour, get daily/regular support with a doc, counsellor- meetings etc.

I feel you. Despite all my best intensions, solemn oaths and swearing it off, I could not stop drinking.
Even though, like you, I felt terrible the next day or whenever the binge would end.
I had to take action to stop. I came here, I went to AA and I kept on trying.
It took me awhile but I have managed to get a daily reprieve from alcohol and I was a very heavy drinker.
Stopping can be done, but for me it took help.
I hope you find it here and maybe give AA a try.
Welcome to the forums, you've made a great start by admitting you may have a problem.
Best to you.

Welcome!
I think that getting rid of the alcohol in your house would be a good step, and not buying more. Changing your daily routine can be helpful in breaking the habit part of addiction, especially in the early days. It's likely that you will have to make some changes in your life regarding people and activities in order to support your recovery.

Welcome to SR! In my case, good intentions were never enough. I needed a plan of action. The first step was finally admitting to myself that I had a problem that I needed to address. I call it "surrender". Alcohol had kicked my butt for too many years and I finally had to stop totally, but it was up to me to do it. SR is a fantastic resource. All you have to do is keep reading and posting. You'll find lots of support here.
