Looking forward to meeting everyone
Hiii everyone!
First night actually deciding to make a change, and boy does it suck! Can't sleep and doubt I'll be doing much of that tonight, but reading everyone's stories here has helped a lot. I've at least visited this site a few times before, but I would always think "nah, I'll get sober some other time!"
I feel like this detox phase is a blessing and a curse....for awhile now I've already been drinking way too much, and recently had been sneaking it around the clock. I would stay with my boyfriend and his family who are open and accepting of alcohol(my family is not so accepting of drinking so I usually hide it). Finally tonight i thought about having one last night of heavy drinking when it all kinda hit me at once and...well, my boyfriend had to get the puke bucket. Then I realized I was buying more alcohol to usually drink myself in a week than his family probably goes through in a few months. I talked to him and he said he often has to talk me out of waking up and drinking all night, and wasn't very happy that I didn't remember any of that.
So, in the future I look forward to meeting all of you! I finally realized I probably need some extra support to avoid turning back to the bottle for the millionth time, so I made an account here and probably will try going to some AA meetings, though I'm really nervous about the meeting. Hopefully will be posting more frequently in the future!

Welcome! You made a great decision coming here. This place has been wonderful for me and I'm sure it will be a huge help for you as well. I just posted about finally talking to my husband about how bad my problem had become and I really feel that now that he knows it will be much easier to conquer. I spent years hiding it from him so I am so glad that you have already talked to your boyfriend and that you will have his help. Get as much help as you can!
Why don't you join the Class of March 2017 for some extra support? I just joined it a few days ago and it really helps to be able to talk to people in the same stage of sobriety as me. That said, I also like to read posts from people that have been sober a long time and hear about how much their lives have improved with sobriety. Gives me something to look forward to. Either way, you will find many kind words and inspiration here.
Good luck!
Jamie
