Am new here but not to my addiction
My first post ..i have been clean again for over a year now actually since feb14 2016 I have a long history of alcohol and drug abuse as I started at 18 my longest of being clean from this abuse was 35 years and chose to o back to my addiction in 2013 why I thought well I could handle it was I wrong to make a long story short in case some of you want to hear the rest I can go in to detail but 2013 sent me in to 24 /7 abuse every waking hr I never experienced home less but I did that living on the streets of Las Vegas and knowing the other homeless people well I was on the street and homeless shelters for 3 years and my addiction finally put me in the hospital on life support my body when in to septic shock and was in ICU for 2 weeks with a tube stuck down my throat to help me breath and the staff at the hospital what I remember was asking me my next of kin .. Lucky I pulled through you would think this would stop me from thinking about my addiction but it has not .As I have been in and out of treatment centers so in writing this I just take it one day at a time or an hr at a time ..I am retired now and getting my life back together my own car ;apt SS and pension s so it's good to be here again because these places like this is were I might help someone else thanks again ..jim

Nice to meet you, jimy. I have been battling alcohol addiction for about 15 years. I binge on wine and beer. SR has help me alot with the support. Sounds like you have come a long way. It is inspiring to read your story. Thank you.

Hi, nice to meet you Jimy! I too have battled my alcohol addiction for many years and have just joined this site to help me with my current attempt to keep my pledge to myself and my higher power to help make THIS day, TODAY, my Day 1 after many former attempts and relapses. Congrats on having a year up, it's battlers' stories like yours that inspire me to not give up trying!
