4 months sober

I am a disabled person with both physical and mental illness. I have been sober for about four months now. I was on heroine and morphine prior to taking 95 milligrams of methadone combined with Valium. I am a very sensitive person. My mind never rests. I have fears and anxiety. I wouldn't say my fears are irrational because of abuse that I have been through in the past. I have prioritized my fears, first fear being that I will not find my higher power, second I will relapse and die, third I will lose respect from my loved ones and forth black mail.

Welcome Spacey
I moved your post to our main Newcomers forum for more response.

You'll find this a very caring and supportive community,

I'm disabled too - cerebral palsy - and this site is my safe place

I had a lot of fears and forebodings when I quit.
I think that's very common but really, everything has turned out great.

Read around, find what other people are doing and what appeals to you. I'm g;lad you found us.

D

I have mental health issues also, and I was not able to get sober and create a strong lasting recovery until I was as mentally stable as I could be. I am bipolar and even though it was hard to find the right combination of medicines, working with a psychiatrist and a substance abuse counselor changed my life. I mention this just because maybe contacting your doctor or starting weekly counseling sessions might help. I had thught my medicines were the right match, but in the end they weren't. Just something I wanted to throw out there.

I also keep a journal where I write a list of my priorities, a list of the pros and cons to using, and different quotes and some notes for which bible verses I have found inspiring.

Great job on 4 months sober! Never stop moving forward and working on yourself and your recovery will continue to get stronger and stronger and stronger!
