I am new here

I feel extremely desperate. I am in pain on all levels, mental, emotional and some physical. I am wanting to do whatever it takes to stop drinking and drugging. I am praying for a miracle. I can't go through this any more. Anyway, it just feels good to be honest and let this out. It is so difficult for me to reach out for help, but I need it now more than ever. Thanks.

Welcome Kissimmee. There's lots of support and help available here. Much of it might well begin with a question for you about how you plan to go about the business of quitting. Any thoughts?

Have you considered face to face support with AA or similar?

Welcome again - and remember you are not alone.

Yes, I need to go to AA. I was wondering how to find a sponsor. Can I request that may be I could get a temporary sponsor. I don't like asking for help, it is one of my down falls. I have telephone numbers,, may be I could just call someone on the list. Thanks

I haven't been to AA so I can't help with that much. I can tell you please dont be afraid to ask for help. We all needed help and support of some kind to get sober. So don't be embarrassed to ask. We are all here for you. Someone will be along soon to explain how AA works I'm sure. Hang in there

Welcome Kissimmee54

If you go to a meeting and tell someone you're new and looking for a sponsor I'm sure you'll get some help

Yes, this disease is cunning, baffling and powerful. I hate that it is chronic and you can never get cured. But I suppose you can live a fulfilling life. Thanks for your posts.

Welcome, Kissimmee - it's great to have you with us.

I was miserable too when I joined SR. Talking things over with people who understood helped me find the strength to change my life. You don't need it.

Welcome to SR. Admitting we have a problem and wanting to get help is a great first step. What is required to actually quit varies from person to person. Some have gotten sober simply using this site for support, for others it might require rehab or treatment. I hope you find what you need in order to quit.

Welcome to SR, you will find lots of support here!!

You may want to join the February of 2017 class on the Newcomers forum. You just need to post to join, and you will connect with others who have decide to commit or recommit to sobriety this month.

Another good thread is the 24 hour thread. Lots of wonderful people check in and make the commit to remain sober for the next 24 hours, and they support each other along the way.

Glad you are here!
