Think about what you'll gain by maintaining the present behavior, and what you'll lose by giving it up.

5 days is a great start, keep it going!

I know that cycle/rut well. I had/have a built in forgetter. I'm only 16 days sober but I think finally letting go of the idea that drinking is an option has helped. I can't drink moderately, I've failed too many times. Sort of like finally accepting I'm truly an alcoholic. As long as I hold on to the idea that drinking is an option, I'm much more likely to drink again.

I found posting here every day, and posting to other people everyday, helped remind me I did have a problem and it was a bad one, Alex.

Remember how your life was prior to 5 days ago. Do you really want to go back to that lifestyle? Being a drunk isn't all it's cracked up to be. It slowly sucks the life out of you. If you keep going you will not regret it. If you "have a drink" chances are you will end up worse off than you were before you started. Then you get to go through early withdrawals again. Not fun.

You can do this. Keep your focus on sobriety which will bring a more fulfilling life.

Alex,

Wanting to quit is a huge part of the battle.

The brain damage has you. The addiction. It is for life.

Look in the mirror. That is a drug addict. Me too. It keeps it real.

Booze is nothing to toy with. Don't believe the hype.

It is a highly addictive, central nervous system toxin.

You have to suffer, or take rx meds. Rx meds are anot her addiction potentially.

Eat, hydrate, keep moving. It takes a long long time..but it gets easier.

I'm pushing 21 months and I still crave.

Superbowl is a big crave day. 3rd one clean.

I'm going to eat and work out.

Stay clean.

Thanks.
