Still sober, barely

I'm home for the night, no further craving.
At the very end of the day I actually asked someone to go have a quick beer. I need to reflect on where the thought even came from. HP or something was looking out for me and the person couldn't go.
I have gone to the bar by myself plenty of times but drove a different way so as not to pass the usual place and went to a meeting instead. Wasn't particularly into it so I just listened. I have eaten dinner and am trying to just relax but thought I'd post of my experience.
Thanks for reading and as always thanks for the support.

I think everyone has near misses or urges to do the wrong thing I think these are all ok as long as you end up doing the right thing. This stuff is hard it's all you vs your addiction all the time, today you won.

Posting on this forum (as opposed to acting on our impulses) has saved many of us.

Congrats on making it through. In the past, I'd have felt guilty for even coming that close. They're just thoughts, you didn't act. Of course we think about it, we're alcoholics. Well done

Congratulations on making it through. It will get easier. Early sobriety is like a precious flower that must be intensively cared for but it eventually grows into a tree that you can lean on.
