Wow , reached 4 years sober today and still on step 1 and newcomer to recovery

It's my birthday today that I wont be celebrating with my workmates. 4 years today since I managed to halt the madness. I hate being underground in recovery, but society rights you off in most instances when they hear the word alcoholic. It's still a disease that most don't understand unless you have it. My life continues to be happy, exciting and fun, i have my family and all the worldly goods i could ever need ,but most importantly I have back my soul and my health.. how close i came to destruction and losing it all. For all of you in the early days..its worth it, keep going , get help, whilst I say I am still on step one, without going to the meetings at AA, I could never have been saved, of that i have no doubt!
Love to all fighting the fight and fear..its actually quite calm waters at the other side, once your through the storms.

Congrats on Four Years! That's fantastic!

Try not to worry about what label society wants to stick you with. Look at it this way- if you were simply falling down drunk all the time many wouldn't give it a second thought. How messed up are we as a culture that drunks are entertaining but those who take the pledge are shunned?

5 Years , i didnt think it would be possible..

It 5 years today since I started my journey to sobriety. Its been an amazing trip and transformational. I could never of dreamt of the things I have been able to do and what I have achieved.
Non of this would have been possible without walking into the AA rooms way back then and I will be eternally grateful.
Good luck to all who fight and continue to struggle with addiction.
