Cognitive dissonance

Hello,
This is my first post, new to this forum. All the indicators say I have a problem with alcohol. I have these starts & stops, for many years. For now, I will lurk, ask a few questions. I was a professional in this field, so cognitively I know what I'm supposed to do, the consistent action is what is missing. I am currently a weekend binger.

May I make a suggestion to try to help? Join us as a poster, and drop your profession. Put all that knowledge to the side. I think that may help your recovery immensely. :-)
