Hope please
Many of us have done what you have just done. It is all part of the journey. There is hope. You just have to learn how to deal with your triggers and have a plan to fight those moments when drinking seems the only way to cope. You will get stronger and things will get better. Don't beat yourself up about this. It happened so now move on and figure out why you gave in.

How lousy we feel after we drink is insufficient to keep us from drinking again. We can give you support, hope perhaps that a sober life is possible. But the help you need? We've just a forum on the interweb and limited in how we can help. What help is there for you locally? And how can you help yourself kick this addiction?

Thank you for being here. There is so much shame. I was just trying to calm down.
I'm scared because in my family there is ZERO love and support due to my grandfather's alcoholism.
It's always "why are you doing this to US".
Theres no way to get any love from them.

There is always hope Sassy. Get a recovery plan and commit yourself 100%. That recovery plan for me is AA, and I got allot out of the doctors opinion section of the big book. He explains alcoholism so well, and that helped me understand why I wanted to drink and why once I did start I couldn't stop. Good luck, you can do this.
Drinking sucks. Life does not. You posted- you asked for a connection in life. You have it here. With life there is hope. There is always hope. No one is alone. Keep sharing.
My prayers to you. PJ

Welcome to SR, Sassy! I'm glad you found us here. The really great news is that YES, there is HOPE. Many of here, maybe most of us, have been where you're standing now. As my sig line says, I woke up one day and it hit me like a ton of bricks that I could keep on drinking or I could keep on living, but I was near a point where I could not do both.
There are lots of resources to help! I'm so sorry that your family is not supportive. It may not be ill will but ignorance on their part, not that it helps. My family knew I drank a lot but they probably weren't aware of just how much or how much it was hurting me.
AVRT was all it took for me, that and SR. You can do a search for it (I can't post a link). It's totally free and the 15 minute slide presentation was enough for me to go from drinking 24/7/365 for decades (three bottles of wine every day, sometimes four or five) to not drinking at all.
There are lots of approaches, though. The key is finding something that works for you.
I know you feel terrible right now but know this- you're not a bad person. You have a bad disease. Whether you think of it as a disease, a condition, etc bear in mind that it's something you struggle against. It's not what you are. There's a good and decent person deep down, you just can't see it because the booze has it's boot on your throat.
I'm glad you're here, Sassy! There is hope now.

Welcome Sassy,
So glad you are here and posting. I hope the meeting was a good one. I was able to stop drinking with SR as the biggest part of my recovery plan. I checked in here dual, and read and posted. The 24 hour thread and my January 2016 class were filled with incredible people and I still check in with them daily. Come join us on the 24 hour thread, lots of good stuff going on there.
If you have any alcohol in your house, get rid of it, way too tempting in the beginning. You can do this!!
