3 Months!
3 Months!
"To those starting out who have recognised they have a dependency issue please never be afraid of what life looks like without alcohol. It looks awesome." I read this quote today from another forum and I love it.
I just reached 3 months alcohol free. I really thought, I’d have a lot more feelings today. I kept waiting for a huge inspiration to bubble up to the surface, but it didn’t. I spent the 13th week continuing with what has helped me be successful: listening to podcasts, reading posts here, running, yoga and meditating. I feel solid in my sobriety, and thoughts of drinking rarely stick around for long.
Improvements I’ve been aware of:
I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 3 months and beyond reveal.
Thanks to all of you for reading, posting and sharing your journeys with me.

Improvements I’ve been aware of:
- I lost 6 pounds, simply by cutting out alcohol. I still eat ice cream and candy, but my diet was pretty healthy and remains so, it is nice to feel a little less pudgy.
- I have psoriasis and that has significantly cleared up.
- My sleep is 90% improved. I sleep through the night and get 8-9 hours a night.
- I haven’t experienced anxiety or feelings of dread. I probably experienced these anxious bouts 2-3 times per week when I was daily drinking
- I was starting to have arthritis symptoms in my hands, those have completely disappeared.
- I have had zero headaches. I averaged 1-2 a week that required Advil when I was drinking.
- I feel calmer and more confident in my feelings.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 3 months and beyond reveal.
