Day 1
I'm a bit discouraged that I haven't stuck with sobriety more than a day at a time. I really do want to quit drinking for good. I have a strong desire to live a productive life. I know I am at a place in life that I could really experience some awesome adventures if only I would put down the alcohol.
Tonight will be tough. When I get home I'm going to make a list of the positives of not drinking as well as the negatives of drinking. Then I can read them often to help stay on track.
I will watch the championship game and be able to remember the game tomorrow.

Ya know, I realized that I, my will, is not stronger than my addiction. My way, my plan,my thinking failed me over and over. I tried everything. I'm a smart woman. Why can't I make this happen?
It was when I surrendered to that fact that I began to find a strength. Obviously I'm speaking of AA and the 12 step program.
Whatever program you choose, just choose something. Going it alone doesn't seem to work for some of us, a lot of us.
Welcome back Sinderos. What have you actually done to try and stay sober in the past? Do you think your inability to stay sober is because you don't have the right plan, or are you just not following one at all?
Well you came to the right place!
Day 1 for me again as well. Hopscotch123, I think we were in April or May of 2015 class together at some point haha
The first time I came here I kept my computer in front of me and this site open pretty much anytime I was awake. It definitely reminded me why I didn't want to drink anymore. Are you watching the game at home tonight? Maybe you can watch it while you're on this site so if you get any cravings we can all help distract you!

Welcome back Sinderos,
Like you, I had many day ones, I finally got to a point where I had enough, and now have just over a year sober. In the beginning it really was one day at a time, and I had to plan out alternate activities for the evenings when I would have normally been drinking.
What does your recovery plan look like? 8 have found reading and posting on SR daily has been the center of my recovery. The January 2016 and 24 hour recovery threads have been particularly helpful.
You can do this, and sobriety is worth it.
