Last drink Wednesday

Hi all I am new here and I've recently just admired to my self I have a problem , I went out Tuesday night with friends and to cut a long story short never went home and my husband has left me , I only went to a friends house but he's had enough of my drinking and left me , I am truly devastated and have no idea what to do now in life , single and 36 with two children age 16 and 11 , the kids arnt even speaking to me cos their dad has left our family home , so this is my first step to helping myself for my kids sake and maybe sorting it with my husband , I had gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago and never thought I'd develop a transfer addiction from food to alcohol but I did and I am so ashamed at my self

Hi Andie, Alcoholism robs us of everything that we love. I'm sorry for your situation with your husband and children. I know that there is a relation to gastric bypass surgery and alcoholism.

These are two of the best books I've read on the topic:

Gut Feeling by Carnie Wilson
Guts by Kristen Johnson

Hi Andie! You'll feel right at home here with us. We're an encouraging & supportive family who understand each other - like no one else can.

I'm glad Anna posted books about bypass surgery & alcoholism. I've seen Carnie interviewed about her situation & she's very helpful & informative. It helps to not feel alone. You can reclaim your life, Andie.

Hi Andie, as you can see from the responses, this is a very warm and encouraging bunch. I'm sorry about your current circumstances but I believe in sobriety almost anything is possible. Welcome to SR. First things first....get and stay sober, the rest will fall into place.

Andie--

I have total and complete sympathy for your situation and wish you and yours the best. You CAN do this!

"I've recently just admired to my self I have a problem"

I know this is a typo, but I couldn't help smiling, because it IS admirable!
