It's day 4. My head ache and body aches are the worst so far today. I totally didn't expect that. I thought it would go from harder to easier. I wonder when my body will feel better. I haven't really hit a rock bottom like what I've heard of. One of my siblings survived 2 suicide attempts before finding sobriety and another one drinks whiskey on ice all night until passing out. Knowing that we have similar genetic make-up I don't want to get to either point in this disease. A six pack of 5% beer and a 25oz can of 8% malt beverage was my nightly routine. Sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. I can't stop once I start unless I run out or pass out. It can only get worse if I keep this up. When did you wake up and start feeling "good" after detoxing?
Welcome, Tuliprose!
I actually detoxed under medical supervision at a no-cost facility. The accommodations were pretty spartan, so to be honest I can't tell you how I was feeling for the first week. I was glad to be sober, and was concentrating on what I needed to do to stay that way.

Welcome to SR, Tuliprose! Every person's detox/withdrawal is different. For me, I've always felt better two to three days after stopping. But again, that's unique for me.
I strongly encourage you to see a doctor if you don't start feeling better soon or if your symptoms get worse.

Good to meet you, Tuliprose. It took about a week for me to feel semi-normal, but I'd been drinking 24/7. I went through many phases. Feeling really good took a while longer.
As SoberLife mentioned, please do check with a doctor if you feel there's no improvement.

Hi and welcome tuliprose
it depends on how long we've been drinking I think..I used to be able to bounce back in a day, then it was two - by the end of 20 years it was a week or more...
I hope your experience will be shorter than that

Welcome, Tuliprose.
Just remember when you start to feel better just how lousey you felt from all that alcohol! You will never want to go back! Give it a few more days. Get thru the weekend with some TLC on yourself. Stay positive and remind yourself that every day in every way you are getting better and stronger!
