Just checking in day 40
Not much to report. I have really good days and days with intense anxiety.
Cravings from time to time just to quell the anxiety but I "play the tape through" and know how that would go, so I don't drink. Just got through one now. Turned on my aroma therapy, made tea, set a 30 minute timer (length of a craving), read a book, got to then end of 30 mins and that burning anxiety that I wanted to quell with alcohol had ebbed. It's not completely gone now but the desire to drink has gone. And now I post here.
Big. Deal.

Thanks. That one just now was the most intense since I started and it scares me how potent that desire is. The desire to numb the feeling and know exactly what it will feel like to numb myself - I'm so glad this happened to me. I needed that reminder today just how present/active the addiction remains.

No I would consider drinking again, but the physical strength of the gripe addiction still has I felt early scared me and I think it is good to be reminded how real it still is. Reinforces my deep commitment to not drinking.
When I read your post I was having an intense craving and anxiety. I never thought of turning on a timer. So I did, and kept myself busy with other things. And the anxiety was better, the craving passed. Reading your post kept me from slipping, and taught me a new way to ride out cravings. And that is a big deal!! Thank you.
