Day 5 and miserable
Day 5 and miserable
Tired for the first 4 days. That's about it.
Last night, horrible headache that wouldn't go away.
Waking up this a.m. nauseous and other yucky stuff.
Really hoping it's a bug going around. In bed. All day. Hoping hubby can watch the kids today.

Hang in there Suzie, it will get better. It is also possible you have a big, there is a lot going around. You might want to try to get into your doctor, he/she can be helpful either way.
I hope your hubby has the kids, and you are getting some much needed rest.

Those first days suck for sure, but things do improve. Like someone else said, not "easy" but definitely easier. Plus you will likely start to see moments of clarity, calmness and happiness that will keep you going! They are small moments at first, but build over time and make it worth it.
Hang in there!

Wharf, you are doing it! 5 days is the start of your next step, doing so will definitely help with all of the things you mentioned. Happy New Year, excellent start.

Suzieq, congrats on day 5!! I'm ending day 3 myself and can relate to what you are going through. We must hold on and hang in there, this too shall pass and it will have been worth the pain! Prayers for you.

I learned here that flu like symptoms are associte w detox.
I had them a hundred times before my last month long detox 20 months ago.
Haven't been close to that sick since I quit for good.
Thanks.

5 days is great! I wish I was on day 5, Id feel much better than I do right now on day 1. A great journey starts with a single step. Don't give up now. Like they say, formulate a plan and put it into action. Drinking again is not the solution. Hang strong
Thanks to all who responded and the words of encouragement.
Almost 12 hours later and all other symptoms have subsided.
I'm left with a pounding headache still and being extremely hot, then chill to the bone cold.
Been in bed most of the day (ate 4 chicken nuggets) and my husband has been nothing but understanding and helped with the kids.
Today sucked, but it really made me think about the damage alcohol caused my body and gave me a lot of time to think about all the reasons never to drink again.
One day at a time, I'm looking forward to feeling better tomorrow and Day 6 sober. I want this. I know it will be hard, but I'm willing to work at it.

Get some veggies, sunshine and fifteen minutes of walking exercise. An amazing difference surely to follow! I love that you have such (possibly unrealized ) strength going into this, mentally and physically, against the evils of addiction. Cheers to day 6!
