Hi Seren.......
I've been checking each day on the hatching
of the 2 eggs. It's good to see one baby has
arrived and you said the 2nd one is starting
to hatch?
I guess us watchers were concerned on
one of the eggs after it was layed was pushed
aside or buried to be forgotten.
I hope that it is a healthy baby Eaglet
as we watch to see what happens.
Been keeping up on the Eagle family
for awhile now. Nothing like watching
life as it happens in an Eagles world way
up high in the trees.
From courtship/romance/ beak to
beak, , finding food, bathing, nest
building, storms that disturb the nest,
rebuilding, laying eggs, birth, growing
up, branch jumping, to flying off on
their own. Whew..!!!! lol
Happy New Year to you Seren and happy
Eagle watching.

I've been hooked on that website for a while. I thought i saw a pip earlier when she was feeding.
I'm fortunate that there is a bald eagle nest very near my house and this time of year they come in my yard almost daily. I saw one fly towards the nest this morning with a coot and then later saw one with a limb.
There is also an excellent webcam on a nest on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA. No egg yet but I've seen them doing nest repair.

Many have asked about the status of Egg #1. Today marks day 41 for the egg & still no pip has been seen. The average hatch window is usually between 34-40 days so it is doubtful the egg will hatch.
Once the adults decide the egg is not viable they might move it to the side of the nest, bury it, remove it from the nest. Or if the egg is cracked, they might consume the egg as it provides much needed calcium.
