Early Days
I'm 3 months and 21 days into this new life. 2016 was a tough one, and I'm glad it's over. A few things were good, but in general it was one painful experience after another. I went to jail for the first time this year, something I never thought would happen to me. Then again, "never say never" when you are an alcoholic.
My SR account is a year old, because I had hoped a year ago that 2016 would be different. I managed to make only the last 3 months anything like what I had hoped for; and hopefully, 2017 will be a year that will make me and those who care for me proud. I'm sure many of us have similar 'resolutions.' Best of luck to you in yours.
I have been using SMART mostly, because I live in a small town and in the AA meetings I've been to I was harassed by someone when I did not return their 'advances.' I would like to find a meeting in 2017 where I can feel welcome - but we'll see. Perhaps forums like this combined with online meetings and SMART will help me as I work on my sobriety.
Anyway, I'm glad to be here. This place seems to help so many people. That's awesome.
