Withdrawal -Day 3 - much worse than previous times ..

Hi,
I am now on Day 3 after going on a MASSIVE wine binge ending on Dec 26th. I posted yesterday about the dry heaves ( sorry if too much info) - I had never had that before . Although they seem to have nearly stopped, just looking at food makes me feel nauseous. I managed to eat some pasta last night and some rice pudding just now. My heart is pounding and my head feels woolly. I am EXHAUSTED . I have NEVER had such a reaction and think it proves what the science says about kindling and withdrawals becoming worse each time. Anyone know when all this will stop ?
I truly need this to be my last ever withdrawal otherwise this stuff will kill me.

Hi Ican. I cannot say when the symptoms will stop but certainly I can say that if you stay sober that they will be sure to end. That's a good thing.

What is your sober plan for the New Years? Do you know why you did this last run at the wine?

I experienced the same thing after my usual three day bender. Why the withdrawals came on so strong after that particular binge I do not know.
It was like any other binge, so I was baffled.
It sure was a wake up call though.
I was addicted and that proved it. Remove the alcohol from my system, and my body reacted physically.
You, also, may be addicted. If things get worse, I would suggest you seek medical help. Withdrawal can be deadly.

And remember, as I did, you never have to feel this way again if you don't take that first drink.
No telling how long it will last. Everyone is different.
Best to you, and I hope you let this be a wake up call.

Just go to the ER. They will take care of you and in a few hours release you when to are stable. It is not worth the pain you are going thru. They know exactly what to do to get your body right. Don't be afraid of going, be afraid of what might happen if you don't get medical help. I have done it before. It really lessens the stress knowing that medical professionals are by your side and answering all your questions about what your body and mind is doing while detoxing. Please get help.

If you've never heard of alcoholic kindling, it basically means that withdrawal gets worse the longer we drink alcoholically.

The good news is you never need to feel this bad again

As others have said if you feel really unwell or concerned, nothing beats the ER or a real live Doctor

You have a join date like me, yet haven't stopped the madness. Please do so.

I just read a scary statistic that said before drugs to assist with alcohol withdrawal existed, there was 35% fatality rate. For anyone beginning their journey in recovery, please take note. Alcohol withdrawal is a very serious condition that should not be taken lightly. If there is any indication that something is not right, seek medical attention immediately.

Icandothis, yes, you are right. Kindling really does occur. Each attempt at sobriety was harder than the previous attempt. It was sad that I kept relapsing after the withdrawals finally subsided because, in the end, I kept doing the hardest part over and over again. We are rooting for you. Make this the last time you feel like this! Life is now in technicolor for me. Waking up feeling great never gets old.

There is lots of good advice here and remember that it will get better if you do not drink again.

My last relapse definitely saw me kindled, felt like I was self immolating. Worst ever, and never again. As Dee says, I never have to feel that pain again. The psychological was excruciating, and that's not exaggeration for affect.

Always fought the notion of kindling, but am now completely convinced. It has been a real game changer in having me welcome sobriety. Evidence based, "ones too many", and I don't even go to AA.

I am in exactly the same shape. Starting to feel a little more human but still can't even look at food, haven't eaten in a few days. Hang in there.
